Can You Spel This?
CHARLOTTE, NORTH CAROLINA, 7th-grader Michael Smith was a hero of sorts in his school, the Carmel Middle School. He had won his school’s spelling bee last week and yesterday (Monday) he competed in the city-wide contest.
His 3rd-place finish made his schoolmates proud. So much so that they set up the school’s outdoor sign to welcome him back this morning. Except that they spelled the spelling champ’s name wrong.
The didn’t do so hot on “congratulations” either.
The school was a little embarassed, but Michael got a big laugh out of it.
