Blazing Cell Tower Causes Evacuations in Pennsylvania

Serious Danger of Collapse

A CELLPHONE TOWER IN BUCKS County, Pennsylvania, is ablaze Friday afternoon and the authorities are warning there is a serious possibility of it collapsing.

The 118-ft.-tall tower is located in a county public works building site broke out in flames around 11:30 and the spread from the base through the core completely to the top putting on a display for the neighbors.

As it got worse, the integrity of the tower itself became doubtful and the houses in the immediate area, including a retirement home, had to be evacuated.  The electric power to the entire area was also cut as a precaution.

Around 2:30 this afternoon came the announcement that the fire appeared to have burned itself out.  However the tower has lost much of its stability and it will have to be dismantled and removed immediately.
