Retired FF Hit With 7 Felony Charges For Stealing From His Local

Had Fiduciary Position of Trust in His Union

A RETIRED SANTA BARBARA COUNTY, California firefighter, Robert Perez was arrested on August 30 following a 4-month investigation by the county sheriff's department into his handling of funds while serving as the Insurance Administrator for IAFF Local 2046.

The Santa Barbara County District Attorney issued the following press release:

District Attorney Joyce E. Dudley announced that seven felony charges have been filed against retired Santa Barbara Fire Department employee, Robert Joseph Perez. Mr. Perez has been charged with one count of a violation of Penal Code section 487(a), felony grand theft, and six counts of filing a false income tax return for tax years 2007-2012, a felony violation of Revenue and Taxation Code section 19705(a)(1). The complaint alleges that the grand theft occurred between March 1, 2006 and February 12, 2012.

Additionally, a special allegation has been charged alleging the amount of theft to exceed $100,000.
